Guy Burton is an Adjunct Professor at Vesalius College, Brussels. His research interests focus on the role and impact of rising and middle powers, with particular reference to conflict settings in the Middle East. He has published two books on the subject, China and Middle East Conflicts(Routledge, 2020) and Rising Powers and the Arab-Israeli Conflict since 1947 (Lexington, 2018) as well as various articles and book chapters in edited volumes.
He has previously held research and teaching posts at the Mohammed bin Rashid School of Government in Dubai. Nottingham University’s Malaysian campus, the University of Kurdistan-Hewler in Iraq and the Center for Development Studies at Birzeit University in the Palestinian territory. In 2018-19 he was a Visiting Fellow at the Middle East Centre at the London School of Economics. He holds a PhD in Government from the London School of Economics.
