On this episode of SEPADPod Simon speaks with Marc Owen Jones, Assistant Professor in Middle East Studies and Digital Humanities at Hamad bin Khalifa University, Doha. Marc has done a great deal of fascinating work looking at Bahrain, sectarianism and the emergence of twitter bots. He is the author of Political Repression in Bahrain, forthcoming with Cambridge University Press and co-editor of Bahrain's Uprising: Resistance and Repression in the Gulf, published by Zed Books in 2015. On this episode, Simon and Marc talk about growing up in Bahrain, gangs and Ice Cube, colonialism and imperialism, 'good' names and 'bad' names, and the emergence of twitter bots.
