On this first episode back after a short hiatus, Simon speaks with Justin Gengler, Research Assistant Professor at the Social and Economic Survey Research Institute (SESRI) at Qatar University, where he heads the SESRI Policy Unit. Gengler's research focuses on mass attitudes, political behavior, and group conflict in the Arab Gulf states. Justin is the author of a number of books and articles on politics, sectarianism and Rentierism across the Arab Gulf. On this episode, we discuss the value of public opinion data, different ways of viewing sectarian politics, ways of understanding de-sectarianisation and future areas of exploration. A must listen.
