Survey on emotional wellbeing
4th Nov 2019 by Simon Mabon
Colleagues working on the Middle East may be interested in the survey detailed below, undertaken by Jan Claudius Völkel on emotional challenges involved in research on the region.
From the survey:
Many MENA researchers have reported about deteriorating working conditions, both in terms of access to research sources as well as psychological challenges.
Reasons for these apparently rising stress levels seem to lie in the increasing re-autocratisation tendencies in many of the Arab countries, less academic freedoms, random arrests, surveillance as well as the rise of socioeconomic injustices, among others.
The full survey, which will take around 15 minutes, is available here: https://de.surveymonkey.com/r/HR3KF5Z and a SEPADPod will be recorded with Jan after the data has been analysed. Please do take the time to do this and share across your networks.
